In a music industry driven by commercial pop (
Hannah Montana tickets are selling for thousands!) – hard music lovers find themselves with fewer and fewer outlets. Specifically, rock lovers have seen a steady decline in original acts since the early nineties nirvana of Soundgarden and, uh, Nirvana. The music industry has become stagnant – a mess of labels and bands attempting to predict hits and infuse commercialism into every song. Bleh.
That’s why we like Diablo Royale, self-described as “High Energy Rock N' Roll smothered in attitude.” Kicking New York’s hallowed rock circuit in the ass, one would never know that guitarists, Eric Choy and Gerard Steixner, drummer Mike Sankari, Adrian Barrios and bassist Jason "Sweet" Leaf came together only two years prior. So next time you find yourself in the iTunes store, and if you don’t want Britney to “give you more”, take a listen to Diablo Royale. Hilly Kristal might just smile from above.
