-The BeanpotForget the Red Sox and the Patriots.
The college hockey invitational proves that Boston is one of the best American sports cities. Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern and Harvard battle in a single-elimination tournament in the first two Mondays in February. It’s a hard ticket to score, but the 55th installment of the tournament will surely offer some drama – especially if rivals BU and BC battle in the finals for the namesake trophy.
-Marathon MondayPatriots’ Day is celebrated in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Wisconsin, marking the anniversary of the first shots fired in the Revolutionary War. In Boston, it has come by the name Marathon Monday: a day off from work devoted to drinking on a Monday at noon (or earlier from a personal standpoint), while performing Mardi Gras-esque debauchery on Beacon St. during the longest-running marathon in the United States.
Harken back to your college days – or relive last year’s glory – as you pick the right viewing spot between Hopkinton and Copley Square. Cheer on the runners while nursing a Solo cup next to a police officer. If you have friends who live near BU, BC, or Northeastern, this is the time to milk them for their couch or floor, because you might not make it back to work the next day without some help.
Eats and Drinks-Union Oyster HouseAlthough it’s one of Boston’s premier tourist traps,
this historic seafood eatery still offers some of the best New England clam chowder (that’s the white one) in the city. The Union Oyster House is the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the United States, serving up its raw shell bar and wood-seated dining area since 1826. Historical records estimate that the building has been standing for 250 years.
