Whether sunbathing on the Esplanade or bundling up through the blustery wind, spending time in Boston offers a look at a quintessential American college “town” and a taste of American history and culture.
Take a
Duck Tour. Party with some Smaht kids across the river in Cambridge. Grab a Guinness in Southie. Even Yankees fans can have fun there. Just be sure to blast tunes by local legend Dropkick Murphys to get in the mood – I recommend “
Shipping up to Boston.” If you can’t get up there on St. Patrick’s Day, you can still dive into New England’s centerpiece.
BostonExcursions-Fenway Park ToursVisit one of baseball’s
most storied parks. An enjoyable tour regardless of who you root for.
-From Frog Pond to Beacon HillA nice romantic walk from the origin of Beacon Street downtown. After skating at the Boston Common Frog Pond, walk west up Beacon Street; your lady will love the old brownstone buildings and scenery. If you can’t resist the temptation to visit the origin for the sitcom “Cheers,” just go for a beer in one of the old-fashioned mugs. The food is drastically overpriced, and there are ample dining alternatives on Newbury Street, the moderately upscale stretch where she’ll want to shop while resting. Ciao Bella makes an excellent gelato, so try to squeeze in some dessert if you take this route.
Also, during baseball season, try to stop by the Ritz-Carlton on Arlington Street for some celebrity sightings. All the visiting teams stay there during their trips to Fenway.
-Paradise Rock ClubAerosmith used to perform at this
local music haven when they were just five musicians with a dream. Located on Commonwealth Ave. near Boston University, the Paradise showcases up-and-coming performers along with seasoned veterans.
