3. AGE OF INNOVATIONGreat Depression Americans (the group that Tom Brokaw calls “The Greatest Generation”) sought, won, and subsequently organized fair labor practices. The Largest Generation continued the change by humanizing the workplace even further. Baby Boomers’ Outside-the-Box creativity has entrenched itself in Corporate America. Progress is still our saving-grace competitive strategy over other countries.
Youth and diversity appreciation enable creativity at work, and Baby Boomer executives have legitimized it. Together, we’ve produced an unprecedented number of patents and innovations. Corporate retreats and creativity training programs have become commonplace.
As young professionals and entrepreneurs, we look at any situation or problem from a new perspective. Because of the Baby Boomer generation, we can voice our opinion with impunity. Moreover, our views are often courted: forward-thinking companies purposefully pull new ideas from all flanks and levels of experience, giving the emerging stars even more of an advantage.
