10 Things I Hate About You (1999): Starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, the movie plays out more like an engaging teen comedy with a girl-grabbing semi-secret: It’s Shakespeare. In 97 minutes, director Gil Junger harnesses the romance in an updated version of the 16th-century Taming of the Shrew, helping to guide the movie to its near-tragic conclusion–fast enough for you to get to more important couch-oriented gymnastics. Despite its predictable cheesy moments, the film showcases enough cute girls and a relatable everyday kid (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) whose hopeless crush on the popular girl hits home for any male viewer.
