Nick Parker of Z100 and WALK 97.5 is Debonair

Nick Parker. His Facebook page says he’s z100‘s youngest ZJ’s, which is quite an accomplishment. Debonair Magazine got a little glimpse as to who Parker – as he’s known to his friends – really is and what he thinks when he’s not at the microphone.

-What does being debonair mean to you?

Debonair is a way of life. It doesn’t mean you don’t have a fun side; you know how to party but more importantly, you have many dimensions to yourself. To be debonair, you carry yourself with sophistication, you’re charming, and simply are comfortable in your own skin. [Read more...]

Debonair Decades, The 70s: 1970s Commercials

The 1970s offered great television and some pretty odd commercials. In this video, you’ll see a 1970s February Saturday TV lineup, a pesky husband with a sore throat, and don’t forget to “take AIM against cavities!”

Paradise Pens, with Jim Paradise

Every true debonair should own a writing utensil from Paradise Pen. Jim Paradise, Executive Vice President of the company, tells Debonair Magazine how the upscale pen company got started and how the pens are not from your dad’s office. In our opinion, if it’s not Paradise, it’s not a pen.

Jim Paradise explained that although he has an official title for business purposes, Paradise Pen is a family owned business and titles really are not that important. He continued, “My father would be considered our CEO. My sister is also heavily involved in the business, and is currently a Buyer/Regional Manager.” [Read more...]

Robbie Leslie, now world-renowned DJ, drops by Debonair Magazine to answer a few short questions about Studio 54. So far this month, we’ve had great success peeking into the past and heard about what Studio was like from those who lived through it. But we haven’t heard from the beat of the pulse … the DJ. It all began around 1979.

-Current position: I’m a freelance DJ.

-How did you get involved in Studio 54? I started as a customer and would come mostly on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Those were good times! [Read more...]

Investing in a Down Trending Economy (for the beginner), by Chris Trapani

Written by: Chris Trapani, Investing Hobbyist

Life is all about taking risks. You may fail and you may succeed, but the first step to success is understanding that you actually may fail. Make sure however, that you gave it your all. So where do you begin as a new prospective investor in a down economy?

Many people don’t wish to take, or even have the time to do the necessary research involved, so here are a few helpful hints I have devised to get you started on the right track. Decide whether you are a trader, or an investor. What is your risk tolerance? Find a discount broker. Zecco and TradeKing offer some of the most competitive prices for an online discount broker. You are in the driver’s seat and not dependent on a trader to call you back if your stock is tanking.  If you choose to work a trader, make sure that they have your best interests at heart. SS12 Leather Straps

Debonair Magazine‘s editor-in-chief Joseph Federico was out shopping in New York City this past weekend and stumbled upon a very important SS12 fashion trend. The leather strap accessory is back for the warmer months, so buyer beware … get yours while supplies last!

Federico was wearing all sorts of leather straps about 5 years ago from the beach to the club and lounge scene. You know what they say, “history repeats itself.” This is one fashion trend we actually welcome back.

Try out a leather bracelet from H&M. The brown double-buckled strap can complement any nautical-inspired outfit, and is an excellent accessory to transform business attire into happy hour chic. (H&M, $7.95)

Bring out the inner tribesman in yourself. Pick up the ETHEREAL Leather Cuff Celtic Cross band from TRIBAL Hollywood. This band stands for “clear mind and soul,” and it laser etched. (TRIBAL Hollywood, $23.95)

Be a badass; we guarantee the lady in your life will be turned on by the “bad boy” streak. Get the black leather cuff with a buckle strap from GUESS today! (GUESS, $32.00)

John Blair on Studio 54

John Blair, renowned nightclub owner and nightlife guru, drops by Debonair Magazine to dish on all things Studio 54. Blair recently re-opened XL Nightclub in New York City, but once upon a time he hosted a surreal dance party at one of the most famous (or infamous) discotheques in history.

A big news source once made the bold remark that upon a first impression, John Blair came across as an early-1980s talk show host; he’s got a million dollar smile and truly knows how to wine and dine with the best of them. We looked beyond that sparkling smile and got to the heart of who Blair was back in the 1970s … where it all began. [Read more...]
