joe-campanale In The Know: Joe Campanale

Joe Campanale is the owner / beverage director for two of the most popular restaurants in New York’s West Village – dell’anima and L’Artusi. He sat down with Debonair and told us where he likes to eat seafood after the restaurant closes for the night.

Sushi – Blue Ribbon Sushi is a favorite haunt for chefs and restaurant industry players.

Fish & Chips - Mary’s Fish Camp does fried cod with french fries but they don’t call it fish and chips, probably because it’s much better than your everyday fried fish.

Surf & Turf – I love the skate with pork belly at L’Artusi.

Oysters – Get the fried oysters at Pearl Oyster Bar - it’s a New York institution.

“The best fish I ever had was at the Palermo outdoor markets while traveling in Italy a few years ago. I was there at night and a vendor was grilling Branzino right off the boat. No special treatments, the cook just brushed it with olive oil and some fresh herbs, then sprinkled some sea salt over the top before tossing it on the grill. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.”
