How To Treat Baldness - A Young Man's Advice

The Rundown
If money is no option - a hair transplant surgery is most likely to offer you the results you desire. However, finding a skilled transplant specialist should essentially become a full time job. Search the internet for transplant horror stories. The photos that accompany them are, well, horrifying. This is a very expensive procedure (possibly procedures) that will have a huge effect on your future. Make sure that your research is intensive, just as if you were buying a house.

For most of us, the cost of a transplant is simply too prohibitive. That leaves us Propecia and Minoxidil. I made the decision to use Propecia 14-months ago and here is why:

I find the twice-a-day regiment required for Rogaine a bit unrealistic (at least with my schedule). If you are always on the go, work irregular hours, or find yourself waking up in strange beds on a regular basis, Rogaine will not work for you. Taking a one-a-day pill (Propecia) is much more likely to keep you on the right track.

The most important aspect of any treatment is keeping a strict schedule.

In my circumstance, I did not regain any hair in the last 14 months, but I did stop losing it. Not my ideal situation, but one that I have learned to accept.

Final Thoughts
You are your own greatest enemy. Hair loss is an emotional experience, more so for those between 18-30. But an emotional experience should not be life-changing. The only real “solution” is to stay positive. Negativity and self-doubt will eat you alive if you allow it. Don’t examine your bald(ing) spot on a daily basis. It doesn’t change day to day, but your emotional reaction to it will. Some days you will feel like George Clooney, other days like Patrick Stewart. The reality is: you look the same. Take pride in your self image, find your best features and accentuate them. If you have blue eyes, start wearing more blues.

Most importantly, use your balding as a catalyst for self-improvement. Get back in shape. Dress better. Be a social butterfly. Just don’t give up on yourself. The average person is a coward, and cowards only attack those that seem vulnerable.

Spread the know.
