Dear Doc,
My friends always call me an old man because I urinate about 15 times a day. I do drink lots of water, but should I be going to the bathroom every hour? –Tony

Tony,
Going to the bathroom every hour is not normal. The body has two general indicators to help regulate fluid intake. The first and most obvious indicator is thirst. Secondly, the color of your urine is a good indication of proper hydration. Dark colored urination and thirst are signs of dehydration. Constant thirst can be a sign of diabetes or a mental disorder. In your case, drinking excessive liquids will cause frequent urination – restrict your intake of liquids as a simple test. It might take a few days for your kidneys to concentrate urine, so have a little patience. If you have constant thirst, I recommend that you see your physician.
