“I know other people who also either didn’t know when it expired, then when you don’t have it, it kind of effects the way you live,” Thompson says. “It makes you a little bit afraid to go on that extended car trip or take unnecessary chances that you would’ve taken with [insurance]. If you know you don’t have it, you might think twice about doing something because if you end up breaking a bone, you’re going to be up a creek. It’s kind of a bad way to live.”
