DVD of the Moment - The Science of Sleep
Posted: Monday, March 05, 2007
By: Peter Flores

Director Michel Gondry continues to satisfy his passion for the surreal with The Science of Sleep, a dreamy tale pushing the boundaries of consciousness. Gondry enlists actor Gael Garcia Bernal to portray the protagonist Stephane, a man gradually succumbing to the entrancing powers of his dreams. After falling in love with a neighbor, Stephane spirals into a state of eccentricities and paranoia.

The real treat is Bernal, and how he tackles the role of Stephane, which required him to act in three different languages throughout the film. Bernal's portrayal, and the way director Michel Gondry seamlessly weaves in an out of the dream-world into reality are enough to add The Science of Sleep to your NetFlix queue.
