Cheap Ticket - A Colorado Ski Vacation On Any Budget
Posted: Wednesday, March 28, 2007
By: Lisa Marie Mercer

It's springtime in the Colorado Rockies. As I look out my window, I notice that the sun is shining. However, there is still a good deal of snow accumulated on the mountaintops, and more snow is in the forecast. Heck, out here, it sometimes snows in June.

Soon, the spring breakers will be leaving our beautiful area. At the ski resorts, lift lines will cease to exist, and the $81 lift tickets will become a thing of the past. Although many of the local resorts will close in mid-April, some, such as Loveland and Arapahoe Basin will stay open until May or June. In secret parts of Summit County, locals have been performing snow dances and making sacrifices to Ullr. If requests are answered, we could have a few more months of decent skiing. This is great news for travelers on a budget! Here are some of the great travel deals available to dedicated snow sliders.

Frontier Airlines and Copper Mountain

Between now and April 15th, if you fly on Frontier to Denver International Airport, you can exchange your boarding pass receipt for a two for one lift ticket at Copper Mountain. You can get even more bang for the buck by staying in the town of Frisco, as opposed to staying at Copper. If you stay at the Snowshoe Motel on Main Street, you will be right next to the Summit Stage bus stop to Copper Mountain. Service is free! The town of Frisco also has some great restaurants. Beginning in April, check the Summit Daily, which is the local paper, for two-for-one dinner discounts!

In case the GF is ticked off that you went skiing without her, there are two awesome consignment shops on Main Street. Rags to Riches and Funky Trunk sell designer clothing for under $100. In most cases, this is more effective than flowers. For your own ski clothing and gear, check out Recycle Ski and Sports, located near the Frisco Transportation Center. This is a great place to buy second hand gear and clothing at awesome prices.
