I thought my original “Babe-Mobile” selections looked sweet until our female panel weighed in. One thing is for certain; speedy tuner rides and cars heavy on aftermarket enhancements are turn-offs. Additionally, cost doesn’t necessarily equate to cool. Presenting the top five babe-mobiles for under $30,000.
1. 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 - starting at $29,250.
The C230 proves that you don’t have to be rich to own a prestigious drive. While I am more partial to the BMW 3 series in this price range, the babe panel was more impressed with the Mercedes name, and, as one lady described, the “sensual” design.
The C230 is a capable entry-level sedan that represents the Mercedes formula of power, safety, luxury and comfort. It features a 2.5-liter V6 that sends out 201 horsepower.
The exterior design resembles the larger and more expensive E-Class. The C230 Sport also boasts 17-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, cloth sport seats, and a CD player.
2. 2007 Pontiac Solstice - starting at $22,115.
We’ve also reviewed this roadster as a top convertible under $30,000 so this popular Pontiac is two-for-two with an inclusion on the babe mobile list. My babe panel just couldn’t resist the design.
The 2.4 liter inline 4 creates enough power along with well-balanced suspension and over all handling to impress any lady. The top is a little tough to handle, so evaluate the weather and pull up to your favorite babe’s house already prepared.
3. 2007 Hummer H3. Starting at $27,962
The Hummer H3? Isn’t this the SUV whose TV commercials show women envying it? Exactly! Hummer’s campaign to get women to purchase H3’s has made this an SUV for females to admire. If you are into this form of vehicular trickery you will still end up with a decent SUV.
On the positive side you become a card carrying member of the Hummer mystic. The babe’s loved this one for its stylish cockpit and exterior design.
On the negative side, the small Hummer is underpowered, slowly accelerates and has poor windshield visibility.
4. 2007 Nissan 350Z. Starting at $27,900
The babe’s prized this one for its sleek style and as one said “its look of controlled speed.” While the panel prized the exterior, the interior scored a lukewarm reaction.
The car comes with a 3.5 liter V6 in both coupe and convertible models. Overall the 350Z is a stylish handling car with swift acceleration and stop on a dime braking.
5. 2007 Dodge Charger. Starting at $22,100
Our babe’s loved watching Bo and Luke drive the General Lee on Dukes of Hazard when they were kids. They were surprised to see that the updated Charger did not loose that nostalgic look while still projecting cool 2007 style.
The entry level Charger comes with a well powered 2.7 liter V6 and a nice package of standard options.
