Dear Doc,
I see a lot of better sex ads claiming that they will improve my sex life? Are there any sexual supplements that actually do what they say? What can I do to have a good, healthy sex life?

Having a healthy sex life is directly related to having a healthy life. The ratio is 1:1. Many sexual issues stem from poor physical fitness and bad lifestyle choices. Keeping your alcohol intake regulated should be a priority. And if you smoke, stop. Also, adopting a proper sleeping schedule can have a dramatically positive effect on your sex life. You should also be aware of your blood pressure and cholesterol, and work to normalize each if they are irregular. In the simplest terms, treat you body well and you sex life will improve.

My second piece of advice would be to choose partners carefully and if you are currently in a toxic relationship, end it. Sex is always best with a partner that you love and trust.

Lastly, lets talk about supplements. Many of the supplements and super-pills that you see on the store-counters are bunk. There is little evidence that supports their effectiveness and one must always be cautious about how supplements will react with other drugs. That being said, Omega 3s, in conjunction with an Ester C supplement and about 1,000 units of Vitamin D per day can aid circulation and overall wellness. But if you are experiencing any sort of recurring sexual problem, turn to your doctor for advice before you turn to any supplements.
