Everyone wants to be Don Draper these days. Since you don’t work at Sterling Cooper all that smoking, drinking and sexual harassment is liable to get you fired, so why not focus instead on being the best dressed guy in the office. Just because you don’t wear a suit everyday doesn’t mean you can’t look damn good in your business casual. Forget the baggy, pleated pants, the oversized dress shirts and those double wide ties. It’s time to slim down and shape up. With that being said, give any number of these featured items a chance and you might very well be accepting that promotion as well as an invitation for drinks with that new cute girl from HR. Welcome to the new business casual.

Brooks Brothers Extra Slim Fit Shirt

No matter what your body type you will most surely look better in a slim fitting shirt. Try out one of the new extra slim fit shirts available at Brooks Brothers for a traditional look with a modern fit. Available in both oxford and broadcloth, pick up one of the two tone or colored stripe options.

Polo by Ralph Lauren Knit Tie

When reaching for your tie in the morning you want to go with something slim and youthful. The knit tie has been having an extended moment of recent and there is no reason not grab your own. It adds some texture to your outfit and does away with the stuffy-ness usually associated with neckwear.

J. Crew Bowery Pant

As with most things in your wardrobe fit is key. The Bowery Pant from J. Crew treads the often blurred line of slim and skinny and comes away a winner. With a perfectly slimmed down hip and leg, these pants will flatter your form without drawing unwanted attention. These chinos are perfect for the both workplace and the weekend.

Bass Dover Loafer

Much like the Brooks Brothers shirts above, what we have here is an updated classic. Chances are guys in your office will be wearing penny loafers too, but none of them will look this good. With an elongated toe and sleeker silhouette The Bass Dover is the new classic. The Weejun style penny loafer has been around for ages, but it has never in all its years, looked this good.

Tie Bar

Even with your suit staying in the closet it’s still possible to add some of that great late 1950’s flair you love. A tie bar can dress up your business casual look without being too ostentatious. When it comes to any male accessory simple and classic is always your best bet. Go with this unadorned sterling silver option for that Sterling Cooper edge.

Somewhere in the 10 Commandments of style lies “Layering”. This fall, where looking good while still staying warm is key, layering can be a man’s most invaluable style asset, as we’ve been stressing this entire season. It adds not only depth, but character to any outfit and when pulled off right can turn a few heads. For a simple, yet dashing layering element try the down vest, which looks as good as it is functional.

I’m no scientist, but I know that if you keep your core warm, you stay warm. The down vest (sometimes called a puffer vest) can be thrown on as a top layer or used under another piece of outerwear to add a new dimension to your already established fall staples. Almost every major menswear brand carries some variation on the down vest this season so it’s extremely easy to find something that easily fits your wardrobe. Below are a few of the seasons best, so whether your looking for waxed cotton (L.L. Bean), a bit of a western influence (Patagonia) or something appropriate for your next grouse hunt in the Scottish highlands, you should be able to find your new down vest below. If you do one thing this fall, in-vest.

I know you love your Ray Ban Wayfarers. I love mine too. The classic shades are everywhere these days and that’s fine, but it never hurts to try something new. Why not switch things up with a new pair of shades this fall? Enter Moscot Eyewear, who are making the same sunglasses that made guys like James Dean even cooler 50 years ago. As today’s menswear aligns itself with American heritage, even sunglasses are getting an upgrade by looking back. Back to the archives, that is. Moscot has been making virtually the same eyewear in New York since 1913 when Hyman Moscot became The Guy in the neighborhood to get your glasses from. Timeless style has never been more applicable then when browsing all the great styles Moscot has to offer. While your Wayfarers take a much needed breather, let’s find your new pair of Moscots…

Nebb

If you just can’t shake the idea of black plastic frames, try The Nebb, arguably Moscots most famous model.

Nebb SE

For those feeling a little more adventurous, check out this awesome collaboration between Moscot and designer Benz whose use of color is the inspiration behind this update on Moscot’s classic.

Theroux

For something with a more substantial frame check out the Theroux. One of Moscot’s newer models, these glasses are a faithful recreation of the iconic glasses actor Justin Theroux wears in Mulholland Drive.

Yukel

If thicker frames are not your speed, try the Yukel. The clean lines and slimmer frame create a sophisticated silhouette favored by such iconic men as Malcolm X.

Lemtosh

For the more decidedly bold, a unique pair of sunglasses like Moscot’s Lemtosh model can instantly set you apart from the throngs of Wayfarer devotees.

Head over to Moscot.com for a look at these and tons of other cool, classic frames. Moscot allows a level of customization lost on a lot of eyewear companies and they give you tons of lens and frame colors to mix and match. As with buying any eyewear, confidence is key. If you don’t feel like a badass in any of these shades, which is highly unlikely I might add, chances are you aren’t.
