A Workout Routine For Everyone
Posted: Monday, October 23, 2006

If you don’t feel like sitting down at a machine, or if you’re alone in the office and want to burn some quick calories, try these exercises. Performing simple unique cardio and lifting workouts will help you maintain a normal fitness level. There’s a chance you might also have some fun while you sweat.

1. The Classics—sit-ups and push-ups.

With all the fleeting exercise fads out there, some people forget about the basics. But these time-honored fitness standards—much like fashion’s black suit or black dress—remain excellent ways to workout with confined space.

2. Utilize Objects

Use heavy textbooks, book bags, air conditioners and the like as free weights. Anything that you can lift against enough resistance can provide a good workout. More portable exercises can be performed with medicine balls, rubber exercise balls (which provide great backdrops for sit-ups), leg lifts and other stomach exercises. If you don’t want your space to start resembling a claustrophobic gym, desks, beds and chairs can all be used for similar purposes. Peruse your girlfriend’s Pilates book when she’s not looking to figure out more ways to utilize cramped areas.
